Børns at Radio City Music Hall - New York City 9/27/18
This week has been filled with what I would assume to be a difficult time for Michigan based singer/songerwriter BØRNS considering the controversies that have surrounded the artist over the past few days, for now that is all that I will speak of this. Maybe you just know “Electric Love" or “10,000 Emerald Pools" all I know is that if you find yourself at a BØRNS concert, you will enjoy the whole experience from watching him on stage to being able to dance along to songs with people you may not even know.
Having seen BØRNS on two previous tours just this past year, I can tell you now that the Radio City Music Hall performance, although good, did lack in certain areas compared to the other shows I have attended. My initial observation, was in the music itself, which seemed to get lost in the size of the theater. Perhaps it was solely just in the production and mixing where I feel that everything needed to be turned up to fill in the size of Radio City. The second aspect of the performance that caught my attention was in the energy in the music, which at times came across as lethargic. But keep in mind, BØRNS’ music, by nature, tends to be esoteric and eccentric.
On the positive side, BØRNS, without question, is quickly becoming a superstar. His stage presence is fantastic, his voice is beyond unique, and his music is still some of the best that I am hearing on the radio today.
In conclusion, even though I have seen some better shows from BØRNS in the past, I still think this show was extremely well done and definitely worth seeing if you get the chance.
