City and Colour: "Astronaut" And The Other Worldy Masterpieces That Follow

City and Colour revealed their new chilling video for “Astronaut”, which establishes themes in their forthcoming album titled, A Pill for Loneliness, through its imaginative and tranquil visuals. On September 13, renowned singer-songwriter for City and Colour, Dallas Green exclusively premiered the video with Apple Music.

As of September 20, Green’s new music video was released to the general public. Green teamed up with award-winning director and good friend, Michael Maxxis to produce the video for “Astronaut”. Maxxis and Green have successfully worked together before on City and Colour’s, “Fragile Bird”, “Thirst”, “Lover Come Back” and “Strangers”.

“Dallas shared his inspiration for the song with me, and then I went to work. This was one of those miracle productions, where somehow everything came together with just a couple days of prep,” explains Maxxis. “In the end this is a video I am very proud of. I think we captured the patient beauty of “Astronaut” in a simple, poetic way.” Ever since City and Colour’s #1 selling album, If I Should Go Before You was released in 2015, fans have been eager for new music. Now, with the release of “Astronaut,” the wait is coming to an end.

“Astronaut” is just one out of the eleven tracks that will feature on City and Colour’s sixth studio album, A Pill for Loneliness.

A Pill for Loneliness, will be available for enjoyment on October 4, 2019. The album will be released through Still Records, an imprint of Dine Alone Records created by Green.

Throughout the making of this album, Green worked in collaboration with grammy-winners to perfect the album. American record producer, Jacquire King produced the album. He has created a name for himself in the music industry through working with, Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, James Bay and others. A Pill for Loneliness was then mastered by Emily Lazar. Lazar is the first female mastering engineer to win a Grammy for best engineered album.

On October 9, 2019, City and Colour will embark on the U.S. leg of their tour. Their U.S. run will include back-to-back shows in Nashville, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston and New York. Green will be performing solo for the first show in a small seated theatre. Green’s fans have been requesting this type of show for years. For this tour, Green finally embraced their advice so he could feel more personally connected to his fans. The second evening will be a more stadium-style rock concert since he will be performing with his full touring band behind him.

Being from St. Catharines, Ontario, Green made sure to include multiple Canadian tour dates. On November 8, 2019, City in Colour will begin their Canadian arena tour in Victoria, BC. After 14 continuous Canadian shows, the band will end their tour throughout Canada on November 29, 2019 in Halifax, NS.

By purchasing a ticket for any of City and Colour’s North American tour dates, not only will fans witness an unforgettable show, but $1 from each ticket acquired in Canada will be donated to “MusiCounts” and “Indspire.”
