The Revivalists give Toronto fans an energetic show to remember at the Phoenix

This past Tuesday, March 3rd, The Revivalists performed an exceptionally energetic and lively show at the Phoenix Concert Theatre, one of Toronto’s most iconic venues from the '90s.

The 2020 leg of The Revivalists' “Into The Stars” tour began on February 28th in Mashantucket, CT. For 12 of their shows in February and March, The Revivalists brought along Grammy Nominated funk group, Tank and the Bangas.

To open the show at the Phoenix Concert Theatre, Tarriona “Tank” Ball stood on the stage with her back to the audience, captivating the audience with a slight grin, as her fellow band members joined her on stage. Tank and the Bangas performed their most popular songs and left the stage after playing for just under an hour. As the flashing stage lights came back on after Tank and the Bangas’ set, the members of The Revivalists casually took their positions on stage.

They opened up the show with “When I’m With You”, which is one of the hits off of their 2018 album, Take Good Care. As soon as the lead guitarist, Zack Feinberg, began playing the familiar mellow beat of “When I’m With You,” the crowd erupted in dancing. “All my friends take good care of me…,” shouted the crowd along with lead singer David Shaw as he then sang his 2018 hit, “All My Friends.”

Throughout the show, each band member exuded an energy that made the entire crowd instantly happy. Shaw was not only singing, he was constantly dancing and engaging the audience as well. After playing 12 of their most popular song, The Revivalists left the stage.

Inevitability, they returned and played four encore songs, including “Wish I Knew You,” which is agreeably the band’s most popular song. Since they left the hit song until the very end, Shaw sang a special extended version of the beloved song. The crowd was in awe as the catchy chorus played over and over again.

After around half an hour of encore songs, the show officially came to an end. Shaw and the rest of the band each expressed their gratitude towards their Toronto fans as they left the stage at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.
