Dope Lemon Brings Vancouver Some Aussie Sunshine

With a forecast of snow in our imminent future, Dope Lemon brought a much-needed wave of sunny soundscapes to a brisk autumn afternoon in Vancouver. Angus Stone’s solo project, Dope Lemon, is known for its distinct blend of genres, yet I like to think of it as “The Strokes meets surf-grunge”.

The concert opened with a collection of Dope Lemon's classics, captivating the audience with their fusion of low-fi, bluesy psych rock. The lights dimmed as the first chords reverberated through the Orpheum Theatre, a historic gem renowned for its acoustic excellence.

A phlegmatic Angus Stone effortlessly serenaded the audience with his suave and cool guitar playing, making apathy look hella cool. Stone's signature baritone croon complements the band’s warm and hazy garage rock.

The impending snowstorm may have loomed, but the warmth of Dope Lemon’s music reminded the audience that even in the chill of autumn, there's always a sunny soundscape to be found.
