Fvded In The Park Back in Action: 2024 Review
Fvded over and out!
What a weekend to remember dancing away in the sun with over 40,000 festival goers. If I had to describe Fvded In The Park it was a HOT one with good vibes.
This highly anticipated 2 day annual urban electronic music festival was an electrifying return, held at Surrey’s Holland Park in Metro Vancouver on July 5th and 6th. After the hard decision of cancelling 2023, the festival came back stronger than ever, selling out for the first time in Fvded history!
The excitement as attendees revealed the news of not just the festival’s comeback, but also the introduction of the new Forest stage joining the iconic Pacific stage and Northwest tent. This expansion not only broadened the musical horizon but also provided ample space for diverse electronic music genres and more opportunities to dance under the open sky.
“Most stacked lineup ever”, featuring headliners who set the stage on fire both nights (not literally). Friday kicked off with performances from Swedish House Mafia, John Summit, Slander, Diplo as well as Chase and Status. Saturday continued with Kx5 (Kaskade & Deadmau5 side project), Dom Dolla, Zeds Dead, Chris Lake, Gryffin, & Deadpact, ensuring something for everyone's music taste.
Festival-goers faced the classic dilemma of overlapping headliners, a common occurrence at festivals with such a lineup like this one. Whether choosing to commit to one performance or navigating between stages, attendees embraced their challenge, ensuring they didn’t miss out on their favorite acts. Luckily for a seasoned festival roamer like myself - I was able to navigate through the stages since they weren’t far apart!
Getting Feral at Forest Stage
The addition of the Forest Stage presented by STACKED provided a refreshing twist to the festival landscape. Navigating through the urban forest of Surrey, behind this stage, offers a cool retreat from the heat, complete with shaded lounging areas and mesmerizing lights. While some attendees suggested a fully forested 360-degree stage setup for a more immersive experience, the Forest stage was still buzzing with energy. Chase and Status threw down an amazing set and packed out the stage. Along with standout performances from 33 Below, Jon Casey, Delta Heavy, and Death Pact.
Vibing at Northwest stage
The Northwest stage offered a diverse lineup that catered to all tastes, housed under an expansive tent with light production and multiple screens throughout. Dr. Fresch got us dancing hard under the tent, while Slander got us into our feels the first day. During the second day, Coco Breezy's set was infectious, high energy, and vibey which was a great way to ease into the festival during the day leading to Chris Lake’s closing set leaving us speechless with top tier house bangers.
Dancing away at the Pacific Stage
The Pacific Stage, the festival’s largest, showcased standout sundown sets from Dom Dolla and John Summit’s against a backdrop of stunning visual effects. Swedish House Mafia, Kx5, and Kream drew massive crowds and also packed out the stage! A highlight for me on the Pacific Stage was Zeds Dead who I grew up in Toronto following closely. It was awesome to hear them drop their older classics “Collapse” and their newest single “Mad Ting”, delivering a perfect blend of old and new.
Community and Care
Beyond the music, Fvded In The Park 2024 is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment. Organizers and staff ensured smooth operations with ample medical support and strategically placed water refill stations, contributing to a positive experience for all attendees.
The atmosphere was positively charged throughout the festival grounds. From my perspective, I encountered nothing but good vibes. There was one amusing moment where a group of friends engaged in a battle on the dance floor using inflatable lightsabers, adding a lighthearted touch to the vibrant energy of the event.
As the sun set on Holland Park on Day 2 it was clear that Fvded In The Park was once again the highlight of summer festival season in urban Western Canada. Whether you were there for the headliners, new experiences, or simply to dance until dawn, this year’s event left an incredibly positive mark on all who attended.
Fvded In The Park 2024 exceeded my expectations with its stellar lineup, great vibes, organization, and for breaking new standards for urban electronic music festivals. Don’t miss out on Fvded In The Park 2025. It's sure to be another unforgettable weekend in the heart of Metro Vancouver.
