Sleeping With Sirens' Dynamic Return to NYC

Over 10 years in the making and a voice you simply cannot forget, Sleeping With Sirens have been consistent since day one, with music that has made them one of the most popular bands in the alternative rock scene for over a decade. The endless energy from both new and old instrumentalists guarantee a memorable night, not only for the crowd, but for the band too. New York City received a high-spirited show from Sleeping With Sirens which brought fans back to the memories of screaming along in their bedrooms to Kellin Quinn’s one-of-a-kind vocals in hits like "If I’m James Dean You're Audrey Hepburn" and "Roger Rabbit".

The CRT+ALT+DEL Tour series had a filled line up; Don Broco, Point North, and Garz accompanied Sleeping With Sirens on the world tour, and all 4 bands brought an exceptional and exclusive ambience to the Times Square concert hall. Garz, first to greet New York City on Thursday night, came out with an exuberance that immediately transferred over to the crowd creating the energetic, boisterous atmosphere that lasted the entire evening through.

Point North knew how to keep the energy level at 100 in anticipation of the main act. Lead singer, Jon Lundin, truly made the stage his own, jumping all over as the mosh in the back of the crowd grew with excitement from the energetic band projecting their thrill from being in New York’s monumental Times Square to the packed venue.

The last opener to warm the crowd up for the outstanding performance yet to come was Don Broco, and there was simply no better entertainer to set the tone for Sleeping With Sirens. Just when I thought the vitality in the venue couldn’t be raised, Don Broco proved me wrong. The frontman, Rob Damiani, has mastered the formula for an interactive and stellar show. The band had the crowd moshing from their opening song to the closure of their set. At one point, they even got the majority of the crowd to remove their shirts and twirl them above their heads in dedication to the English bar tradition. Don Broco is a band you definitely want to witness a live performance of, as there’s no way you can’t have fun from start to finish.

Finally, Sleeping With Sirens entered the stage to the sound of longtime fans joyfully chanting the band name in anticipation. There’s a reason the band has successfully played close to 1,500 shows over the last few years and packed venues for each tour series. Sleeping With Sirens have undoubtedly become more polished as they aged in the industry, yet they continue to maintain a consistency with their one-of-a-kind sound that birthed their popularity in the music scene; the band is simply unforgettable.

One of my favorite aspects of a Sleeping With Sirens performance is the entire band's ability to make the stage their own without outshining another. There is so much high-energy projecting from each musician as they play song after song, not to mention their musicianship being topnotch, it’s impossible to not be pumped up throughout the entire set, and trust me, New York was pumped up. Yet, what I truly loved most about this tour's setlist is the acoustic break. Sleeping With Sirens is one of the few bands in their genre who is able to produce rock song after rock song and then suddenly come out with an acoustic EP that gets just as much exposure and is equally as enjoyed as their upbeat hits. I have seen Sleeping With Sirens a handful of times, but this is the first performance I’ve witnessed the guys integrate an acoustic portion into the setlist, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Although it was short, the rawness of the acoustic moment made the show that much more intimate, especially since the band has been around for 10+ years. Growing a loyal fanbase further displays how polished their lineup of members are. Again, Kellin Quinn’s voice is hard to pinpoint similarity to, and it’s distinctive nature is really what makes this band a household name in the industry. I sincerely believe you won't regret attending a Sleeping With Sirens show, so toss on some skinny black jeans and maybe a band-tee and go mosh your heart out at one of their upcoming shows.
