Ten Years, Ten Songs; Citizen Celebrates a Decade of Youth in Queens!
Grab a drink and throw your hands in the air; it is a decade of Youth by Citizen! Michigan-based rock band Citizen have spent over a decade crafting their signature sound, but every fan has a special place in their heart for the album that put the band on the map; Youth. To celebrate a decade of Youth, Citizen has embarked on a short United States tour in celebration of the album hitting the 10-year milestone. Consisting of seven shows total, the tour completely sold out almost immediately and it’s no surprise why. Citizen are polished, yet raunchy, rock, yet melodic, a combination of both whimsical and hardcore. Although the shows on this leg of tour are entirely sold out, you can still experience the memories through our photos and review below.
With one supporting artist before them, it didn’t take long for the stage to be transformed into Citizen’s home for the night and Maspeth, Queens welcomed the three piece ensemble with open arms. Beginning with an entire run through of Youth, Citizen honored the album in an intimate fashion. The entirety of the sold out crowd sang along to all ten songs word for word, almost drowning out lead singer, Mat Kerekes, on the classics. Beyond that, the band's interlude into another era of their music was just as well received. It was truly an unforgettable moment with Citizen at Knockdown Center. The show felt personal despite the relatively sizable venue and the crowd truly made the band feel at home in Queens. The connection between the band and the fanbase was undeniably felt by everyone there, making the night all around special for those who attended. If a sold out tour doesn’t prove how fantastic Citizen is, I can confirm they’re seriously one of the best, especially live. I promise you won’t want to miss out the next time Citizen crosses through your city. Keep up with the band below to receive updates on recent releases and upcoming performances!
